In a country where violations of the basic rights of individuals are not even acknowledged by the victims themselves, and where humiliation and deprivation are so deeply rooted in the traditional socialization processes that they have become an ordinary part of life, Human Rights Education must be seen as a foundation necessary for any kind of development, be it social, political or economic. The root causes of human rights violations are embedded deeply in our social structures and governance systems. In order to deal systemically with Human Rights violations, and to work positively towards building a society where rights are commonly respected and nurtured, we need to re-invigorate our indigenous social movement. We believe that establishing a sustained effort to promote Human Rights Education in Pakistan is an important place to start. (Mehargarh)

AASHA’s concluding ceremony to commemorate Working Women’s Day took place on December 22, 2011 at PNCA (Pakistan National Council of Arts) where rural as well as urban empowered women of the country gathered to support the cause of AASHA (Alliance Against Sexual Harassment). Members of Law, Media, United Nations, Donor agencies and Government also participated and wore the commitment bands to reaffirm their pledge towards this cause. Chief guest Miss SyedaFizaGillani “Brand Ambassador for Women Rights in Pakistan” inaugurated the event. Barrister Ch. Aitzaz Hussain Ahsan also gave his speeach and shared his life experiences with the audiance. At the end of the event a book “Working with Sharks” writted by famous writter Ms Fouzia Saeed was launched. Faouzia Saeed read excerpts from her book and also shared her life experiences with the audience and discussed the struggle that she has gone through. 10 signed copies of the book were auctioned at the end of the book launch.
SAC designed the stage, logistics and lighting for this event to make a simple yet dramatic ambiance for this function. The life size illuminated triagular sculpture in the shape of the book "Working With Sharks" was the aesthetic highlight of the launch. The challenge of this event was to successfully allow for the cause of sexual harrasment at the workplace to be discussed in depth by the author in a non cluttered but aesthetically pleasing visual environment. SAC was proud to play its humble role in projecting this very important national issue pro bono for AASHA.
